The Future of Video Games: Game Controllers or Motion Control

Nintendo Wii is one of the first pioneers that promotes and gives an alternative gaming experience with its introduction of motion sensing controllers. Finally after a couple of years, its two direct gvideo game competitors Microsoft and Sony has finally unveiled their own version of the motion sensing controllers, with Move on the Playstation 3 and Kinect with the XBOX 360. Will the future of next gen and video games be motion controls?

The answer solely depends on the gamer but if you'll ask me nothing replaces the feel and convenience of holding a game controller and pushing the buttons. Video game companies like Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo might want to impose a more enriching and healthy gaming experience by making its gamers get off the lazy couch and actually interact with the game by sensing the body's motion, but some players aren't into really those kinds of stuff. Let's just say for instance that Oblivion IV or V will adapt a motion sensing controller, and when you motion your body as to walk, guard with shield, strike down a foe, or whatever it might be entertaining at first but in the long run it might be tedious and tiresome and mostly gamers have already had their stressful day at work or at school. In contrast, it is advisable for active and outgoing gamers looking to shape up and experience new gamers, but again motion control is not for everybody.

Accessibility and convenience is the key to an enjoyable video game, remove that factor and what you get is something  stressful and could possibly be considered as work. Nothing beats pushing the 'A' button to make Mario jump to avoid pits, go to the next platform, avoid or stump the enemies rather than actually simulating a jump which can be tedious (believe me). In the advent of Kinect and Move, I believe motion control will just be an alternative and casual way to experience video games but will it be the future of all future game releases, well let's not hope so. But who knows, it might be but then the technology should be researched and developed more if ever it will be the future of next generation gaming.
