Classic Live Action Superhero Comics-Based Series

One of the most prolific themes in the entertainment industry are superheroes. Starting from its humble roots in the form of syndicated publication, it has grown so much from it. It's first break on the mainstream industry was via the television world. Though there have been many animated adaptation of these comic book titles on television, there have been some which went the extra mile to even produce a live action version. Here is a rundown of some of the most notable classic live action superhero television series based on popular comic book titles.

He spins a web so look out! Spider-man, the first live action television series of the popular neighborhood Spider came out at around the 1970s with "The Amazing Spider-man". It starred Nicholas Hammond as Spider-Man/Peter Parker, David White as J. Jonah Jameson, Michael Pataki as Captain Barbera. The series does not feature most of the most notable Spidey villains but rather real world threats like terrorists, thieves, etc. There was also an obscure Japanese version of Spider-man which is featured odd plot, enemies, and robots. Hulk is another Marvel character gets his own live action television series with The Incredible Hulk which aired from 1978 to 1982 starring Bill Bixby as Dr. David Banner and Lou Ferrigno as the Hulk.

DC has its own fair share of comics title to live action syndicated television series with The New Original Wonder Woman starring Linda Carter at around 1970s. The Adventures of Superman on the otherhand might be the very first comic-book based live action television series with its pilot at 1953. The Shazam! / Isis Hour ran from 1974 to 1977 featuring DC's Captain Marvel. Actor Michael Gray stars as young Billy Batson and his superhero counterpart Captain Marvel was played first by Jackson Bostwick and John Davey later. Isis is another superheroine under DC Comics appeared on on three episodes of Shazam!. Actress Joanna Cameron appeared as Isis, and her alter-ego Andrea Thomas. And of course, who wouldn't forget about the 1960's Batman starring Adam West as Batman and Burt Ward as Robin. On a a more modern era the 90s,The Flash televison series zipped it ways to the small screen. It starred John Wesley Shipp as the superhero, The Flash, and co-starred Amanda Pays. Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman run from 1993 to 1997 starring d Dean Cain as Superman/Clark Kent, Teri Hatcher as Lois Lane and (John Shea as Lex Luthor.
