Television is one of the best source for home entertainment and like video games it have evolved throughout the years. A testimony to such development in the television industry is the evolution of animated shows and series. Cartoons no longer caters to kids alone. When adults also laugh at the antics and humor of cartoon shows like Sponge Bob and the original Looney Tunes (Bugs, Daffy. etc) skits then it only means that they have brilliantly crafted something that fits all audiences, and this is what makes a cartoons successful.

Playing with ideas, tickling the senses and at some point may go down the level of morality have been some of the themes of animated comedy shows like Family Guy, Beavis and Butthead, The Simpsons, and many more. Their popularity transcended into the big screen (The Simpsons) while some got showered with criticisms because of their controversial nature (Beavis and Butthead and Family Guy).

Not all phenomenal cartoons are of humorous nature, as cartoon series like Transformers, Batman the Animated Series, Spider-man,  X-Men, Ben10, and Avatar: The Last Airbender proved that US cartoon series has what it takes to make epic series which tells the adventures and journey of these heroes and their struggle with the forces of evil. With the support of the comics community with geeks and nerds on it, these cartoon series gained popularity and phenomenal successes as well. Transformers could possibly be the most popular one amongst them as it also became a pop culture icon, transcending its success in the field of toys, video games, and film.
