Video games have been a big part of the amusement and entertainment of a good number of individuals worldwide. For every gamer there is a certain genre of games. With many gaming genres out there, one can make hundreds of discussions, but today we will focus on just one, MMORPGs. Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Games or simply MMORPGs has two game types, the free to play (f2p) version and the pay to play(p2p) one. Both generally has their own niche gamers which have constantly clashed all through out the worldwide web. Let us focus on its reasons.

"Why pay to play when you can play something for free" is the common dialogue of f2p gamers, while on its opposite edge, the p2p gamers are saying "We are paying for premium and quality gaming experience than cheap unbalanced ones". While both have their own points, both are still just the casualties of the dangerous business which has been made by various game publishers. If the gamers thought that it is all about them, then they are probably wrong. Nothing is really "free" these days as even playing/accessing these mmorpg's consume electricity or is under one's internet subscriptions, not to mention the f2p mmorpgs has the cash shop options.

There have been many free to play mmorpgs popping out recently to attract new gamers that offers free access to their game with usually features of cash shops which usually creates an imbalance to the gaming experience. This is probably the main complain of f2p gamers, the imbalance brought by the cash shop, which is not really noticeable on p2p games. This is the intention of free to play games, to find a way to earn for themselves for at the end of the day  they are still considered a business. What the free to play gameplay lacks the cash shop fills up, but sadly creating an imbalance for other players who can't afford the cash shop items.

Pay to play games on the other hand does offer more exploration, more gaming features and more balanced gameplay but for a price of a regular subscription. The question of "is the $15 monthly subscription fee really worth it?" usually pops out. What if one came to a point of exhaustion or boredom, or some incident which makes one incapable of accessing the game for a good period of time (e.g. a broken pc, budget issues, school or work deadlines), and in order to continue one's gaming is that he should pay for the existing months even if he failed to logged in during those times.

At the end it isn't really he bout or the free to play vs the pay to play that the gamer should be passionate about, but the demand for a more balance and entertainment that these game publishers promised its players to gain. Both the f2p and the p2p gaming community may have their indifference or their complains with their own games, it doesn't have to mean that one has the right to look down on others chosen platform, or brag too much about their games. Because both are just being consumers of a very clever business machine called the mmorpg gaming genre.
