Thank author of this post/comment

Keys has been a part of our every day lives even how sophisticated our lives have already become. Most must have been using these small metallic objects to accessed things that they have secured with locks.

Technology might have developed how keys look and acts like and some lock don't need the keys we normally use but we still need to carry some form of fob or card for locking and unlocking. High-end hotels and other companies widely uses key cards to give access to people to places. Most modern cars can be opened while can be started from a distance by pressing buttons on a key fob.

In the future, we may not to keep a physical key to be able to unlock things by using an invisible key. You may wonder how would this be possible. It's by replacing the physical with hand gestures. This invisible key has been showcased at the recent 2011 Taipei International Invention Show and was able to win Gold in the Invention Awards of the 4-day event.

The technology innovation which can solve problems like being locked out from your property cause you forgot or has lot your key was from Tsai Yao-pin's team of researchers. Tsai teaches at the Technology and Science Institute of Northern Taiwan and has developed the invisible key with a core chip that can detect movements in three dimensions just as how it was being used in a popular gaming console.

The users of Tsai's key-less lock system can set up complicated hand gesture sequence that they would only know and perform it in front of the sensors if they want to lock and unlock.

Tsia believes that is would take him and his half a year to make their invention go commercial. Several interested parties has approached him showing interest to it so we might see this in the near future.

Another key-less technology is using unique features of a person which is fingerprints. Locks that could be opened with a person fingerprint is already commercially available but some researchers and white hat hacker pointed out flaw with its security features.

Keys and locks are believe to be used from as early as the 4,000 years ago by the Egyptian civilization. With Tsai' innovation, we may have to say goodbye to our keys.
