Apple has really hit it big with the innovation of the iDevices. From a once simple handheld planner with multi-functional downloadable applications to the now phenomenal iPhone and its larger counterpart the iPad, it is clear that Apple's iDevices is one of the best portable and handheld computing devices offered by the market.

Besides the iDevices telecommunication capabilities and functions, they can now be also pitted against long time video game veterans like Sony's Playstation Portable and Nintendo's DS (Series). Though the games may not be as expensive and in-depth as the major mainstream portable video game consoles, iDevices (iPod Touch, iPhone, iPad) will not be left out in terms of quality handheld game titles. Independent programmers, upcoming and starting video game publishers and veteran video game publishers and developers has already created games for the iDevices which can compete with the handheld gaming market which was once exclusive to the potable video game device rivals Sony and Nintendo.

You name it the iDevice has it. iDevices have a wide library of great titles to chose from ranging from the old school classic adventures which are remastered (great for the nostalgic and casual gamer), great shooting games with local (wifi or bluetooth) multiplayer  and online funtionalities, castle defense games, simulation, exclusive role playing games, and popular games that have crossed over to the iDevices like The Sims, Monopoly, Plants vs Zombies, Assasin's Creed, The Prince of Persia, Splinter Cell, and many more. The best part about it which can also be a double edge sword of it is the iDevices Touch Screen capabilities. While DS has a stylus lower end screen and Playstation has the traditional d-pad button configuration, iDevices has the touch screen and tilt screen capabilities. There is an endless possibility to the iDevices, especially with the iPhone for it is not just a telecommunication device, it is a powerhouse mini-computer pack with many features besides gaming.

The edge of iDevices like the iPhone against the portable video game console competition, is that almost everyone and a good percentage of the market buys the iPhone because of its basic telecommunication services which the DS, and PlayStation Potable don't. Sure Sony and Nintendo's portable pride offers wireless capabilities like bluetooth, wifi, 3GS, etc but their target market is mainly gamers, unlike the iPhone which targets generally everyone. This is the main reason why video game publishers had their eyes on the iDevices, because of the wider audience that the portable device offers. More audience means more money, and chances are that they might convert non-gamers to actual portable gamers. Converted cellphone users to actual gamers may even help the gaming industry gain more market, creating an even better situation for the video gaming industry.
