Geek is the new sexy of the 21st century but its transition to this state is like every chapter in history, bloody and merciless. Every kid who belong to the geek or nerd culture has gone through tough times from being bullied at school or even laughed at for being themselves and expressing what they love. Whether it is animation, comics, movies, video games, or any other pop culture reference stuff, geekiness is not something that a kid would regularly claim and be proud of. Times are changing and it seems everything is powered by great geeks of our times. Even in the field of entertainment, whether it is television or movies, geeks and nerds are the ones responsible for the creation of the now popular sources of mainstream entertainment. Take for instance superhero movies like Spider-man, Batman, Superman, Hulk, The Watchmen, The Fantastic four, Iron Man, The Green Lantern and the Avengers are all part of the nerd and geek culture. More and more print publication characters which were once categorized to be only beloved by those bookies or nerds have broken movie box office and has entertained countless of movie goers alike. One love red letter to video game nerds and geeks of the 90s is Scott Pilgrim vs the World which features various video game reference which may not always suit the taste of the general audience but will definitely be a treat to all people who grew up with video games and the dating scene. Though being a geek or a nerd may not be rewarding on one's earlier life, as you tend to grow up and mature you will soon understand that all those humiliation and name calling by those so called "jocks" and "bullies" on you school are nothing with all of the potential greatness that geeks and nerds possesses. so hold on to that dream of becoming the next Stan Lee, next Beethoven, or Da Vinci as it will soon pay up. The entertainment industry is a good reminder that there is a greatness that awaits us out there.
