I confess. I have fallen once again into my old addiction of playing Facebook games. This kind of problem is nothing new. After all, millions of people around the world get hooked to the various games, such as Farmville, that are available in Facebook. It is arguably these application games that have made Facebook as popular as it is today.
The difference, though, is that I have already learned how to resist the tempation of playing games. I have the tendency to get addicted so easily with these games and the latest game from Playfish and EA, The Sims Social, only refreshed this addiction anew. I have always been a fan of the Sims series, mainly The Sims and Sim City. There's something in sandbox games that keep me attracted. There are no game-prescribed goals. The player is given all the power in this world to devise on his/her own what he/she wants to happen with the sims. In the case of The Sims, you are given the chance to design your own home and lead the lives of your sim, giving him/her jobs, make him/her go through hell, and even make the choice for a romantic partner for him/her. The possibilities are endless. The Sims Social only extends this award-winning series into a lightweight platform with enhanced social dynamics. But like The Sims, The Sims Social is not short on home furnishings, including home furniture. There is, surprisingly, a wide array of possible choices for the furniture available. The main difference that I can see, though, is that a lot of these furniture cannot be bought through simoleons (the currency in the series) but, rather, through what the game calls as social points. Most furniture in the game, too, will have to be constructed instead of getting bought outright. I suppose the game designersincluded this in order to make it slightly more difficult to do well in the game, as well as improve the socialization factor. There are major differences in this regard when the game is contrasted with the PC version. I have no complaints, though, because it's already assumed that this is going to be more lightweight and more social-centered. The furniture are good-looking anyway. You can talk about...
