Technology has made human lives more convenient and easier. Sadly, the technology that supposed to make life easier for man is also responsible for making it worst. Too much of everything is bad, and excess could lead to addiction. This time the effect is more gradual and more long lasting than the usual illegal drugs, this is a different kind of addiction for it is a technology addiction. we geeks and nerds may take this lightly now as probably most of us haven't have their families to take care of but have you noticed that it seems like the day would not be complete if we do not check our e-mails, logged in to our social networking websites, blogged about anything that deemed our interests? If you are using more time in front of your computer screen, mobile smart phones, handheld or even console video gaming devices, then you might have what the experts called an addiction or reliance to technology. We as geeks may not notice it at first, but it can eventually affect how we go on with our daily lives. One can neglect one's own physical, spiritual and mental health because of technology. How one interacts with the people around him/her could be also affected by too much screen time rather than physical (face-to-face) time with people around him. Time management can also be affected which may root out to the problems previously mentioned. Technology addiction can also bring out violent emotions and mentality referring to long exposure to violence in video games and if not properly guided by guardians and friends. Geeks and nerds should take heed about this call for change in lifestyle for at the end of the day technology is meant to aid us humans, and not to be controlled by it. What future will our future sons and daughters will grow up with when even their parents can't control this growing addiction to technology.
