In the streets and thrift shop, you may get an offer to rock bottom price electronics, but buying in this sources could bring harm to you or bring you to prison like what happened Muthanna Aldebashi, 27, a cab driver that was charged with felony possession of a stolen property and could serve jail time soon. Aldebashi was caught to possess a MacBook that gave leads to its owner Joshua Kaufman, an interaction designer who reported the theft in March. A thief broke into his Oakland apartment, through a window. Kaufman said the police didn't pay much attention to his report even though he said he have an application installed in his computer to track it. The software is called Hidden, it supplies the owner the computer's location, photo taken from the Mac's internal camera, and screen shots the computer's display. The software did it job and supplied Kaufman with clear photograph of a bearded man and screen shot containing the e-mail address of this guy which was used by the police to lure him into an arrest. Kaufman didn't get a response from investigator even though he had handed out the evidences pointing to the whereabouts of his computer. He began blogging about the theft and his frustration and posted the photo in a blog called 'thisguyhasmymacbook' in tumblr. His frustration about Oakland police's actions went viral and soon got media attention. Good Morning America called the Police Department, told them about the existing evidence but the police defended themselves by say that the case mis-filled to having to possible evidence to push through. Mr. Kaufman then received a phone call for the police telling him that his case would followed up immediately which then resulted to the recovery on his computer. This not the first time that a tracking software like 'Hiden' has been used to recover stolen items. In January, a stolen laptop in Bremerton, Washington, was recovered. It was monitored by it owner with it journey to Southern California using a software called 'Orbicule' that takes photos and GPS coordinates every 8 minutes when it is online. 'Prey' software was used by a man to track his Mac Book to a New York bar. You can talk about...
