I grew up in the 90's era and let me tell that even though the technology wasn't that advanced that time, there are some great things offered to our childhood during that time and a line up of great but usually cheesy television shows. If I may, I can proudly say that the late 80's and the whole 90's era is the golden age of animation in television and here are some reasons why.

Continuity, humor, nice plot. Yes, animated shows from the 80's and 90's have continuity in its episodes besides having a good storyline, not that I am saying that the new ones of today don't, Avatar: The Last Airbender and Ben10 is a good example of modern age animation with nice plot with continuity. Some of these great classic animated series are Batman the Animated Series, Spider-man the Animated series, the Uncanny X-men, Transformers, Vissionaries, Thundercats, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Mummies Alive, Mighty Max, Biker Mice from Mars, Bucky O'Hare, Creepy Crawlers and many more. If you are looking for the ancestors of animated comedy shows like Sponge Bob during our time, we have The Animaniacs, The Real Ghostbusters, Freakazoid, Cow and Chicken, and many more. During those times its not all about the boys but also for the girls, there are great toons for the fils as well like Starla and the Jewel Riders, Princess Gwenevre and the Jewel Riders, Sky Dancers, The Little Mermaid and many more.

Here are some of the best 80s and 90s cartoon show opening themes:

Though almost all of these animated shows have been canceled due to ratings, they still made everyone's childhood memorable during those days. They have catchy opening themes, usually humorous (now cheesy) scripts, appealing storylines, and have very memorable effects to us grownups now for they make us what we are right now and we are thankful for them. Too bad that with the advent of video games and the internet made studios gives less importance to making great kids-friendly shows.
